This is a translation for convenience. The legally binding version is the German Datenschutzerklärung.

1. Overview

Protecting your personal data matters to me. This website is deliberately designed to collect as little data as possible:

• No cookies are set.
• There is no tracking and no web analytics.
• No external content (e.g. fonts, scripts, maps or videos) is loaded from third parties.
• Messages sent via the contact form are forwarded to me directly by email and are not stored on the web server.

2. Controller

The controller responsible for data processing on this website within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is:

3. Hosting and server log files

This website is hosted by the following provider:

The servers are located in data centres in Germany; no data is transferred to third countries outside the EU.

When you visit the website, the web server automatically records information transmitted by your browser in so-called server log files:

• IP address of the requesting device
• date and time of access
• page or file requested
• amount of data transferred and HTTP status code
• referrer URL (previously visited page)
• browser and operating system used (user agent)

This data is not combined with other data sources. It is processed to ensure the smooth operation and security of the website. The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR; the legitimate interest lies in providing the website in a technically error-free and secure manner.

STRATO stores complete IP addresses for no more than seven days in order to detect and defend against attacks; after that they are anonymised. In the log files I have access to, IP addresses are anonymised from the outset. These anonymised log files are kept for no more than six weeks and then deleted.

A data processing agreement pursuant to Art. 28 GDPR has been concluded with the hosting provider.

4. Contact by email, phone or contact form

If you contact me by email or phone, I process the data you provide (e.g. name, email address, phone number, content of your enquiry) in order to handle your request.

If you use the contact form, your name, email address and message are sent to me as an email via the mail server of the hosting provider named above. The details are not stored on the web server; only the server log files described in section 3 apply. They are not passed on to third parties. All fields are required so that I can reply to your enquiry.

The legal basis is Art. 6(1)(b) GDPR if your enquiry relates to the performance of a contract or to pre-contractual measures; otherwise Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest in responding to enquiries).

The data is deleted once your enquiry has been fully dealt with, unless statutory retention obligations (e.g. under § 147 AO or § 257 HGB) apply.

5. SSL/TLS encryption

For security reasons, this website uses TLS encryption. You can recognise an encrypted connection by “https://” in your browser's address bar.

6. Your rights

You have the following rights regarding your personal data:

• Right to restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)

Where processing is based on Art. 6(1)(f) GDPR, you have the right to object at any time, on grounds relating to your particular situation, to the processing of your personal data.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

You have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), in particular in your place of residence or the authority responsible for my place of business: the State Commissioner for Data Protection and Freedom of Information of North Rhine-Westphalia (Landesbeauftragte für Datenschutz und Informationsfreiheit Nordrhein-Westfalen, LDI NRW), Kavalleriestraße 2–4, 40213 Düsseldorf.

7. No automated decision-making

No automated decision-making, including profiling, pursuant to Art. 22 GDPR takes place.

8. Changes to this privacy policy

I will update this privacy policy whenever changes to the website or to the legal situation require it. The current version published on this page applies.
